NOTICE
Milford Federal Credit Union is owned by you, its members. It is
run by the board of directors you elect. You can be certain that
protecting your financial privacy is a top priority of this credit
union. This document explains the measures we take to protect your
privacy and to safeguard your personal financial information. It
explains the limited circumstances in which we may share
information.
How We
Protect Member Information
MFCU has adopted a Privacy Policy. All our employees are trained
in the importance of maintaining the security and confidentiality
of your accounts and information. We maintain physical, electronic,
and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and
leading industry practices.
Information
We Maintain
In the course of normal business operations and in the process
of understanding and serving your needs, we gather information.
This information comes from the following sources:
• Information we receive from you on applications and other
forms (for example, name, address, social security number, assets
and income);
• Information about your transactions (such as account balance,
payment history, parties to transactions and credit card
usage) with us, our affiliates or our partners that work closely
with us to provide you with various financial products and
services;
• Information we receive from a credit reporting agency (for
example, credit worthiness and credit history);
• Information obtained when we verify the information you provide
on applications and other forms (this may be obtained from current
or past employers, or from other financial institutions where
members conduct financial transactions); and
• Information we obtain from consumer purchasing and census data
providers to develop competitive products and marketing programs
for our members.
Our
Partners
We have contracted with a select group of joint marketing firms
with whom we provide a means of contacting you about their
products.
We do not permit our partners to sell or disclose information about
you.
The
Information We Share
We may disclose the following types of nonpublic personal
information about you:
• Based upon information available to us, we periodically
provide contact information about members to our joint marketing
partners. We do not disclose to them your balances or
transactions.
• Based upon your authorization, we may provide additional
information to our joint marketing partners.
• We may also disclose information about you as permitted or
required by law. These disclosures typically include
information to follow your instructions as you authorize, to
conduct our operations, or to protect the security of our financial
records. To protect our members' privacy, we only work with
companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections
and limit the use of information we provide.
• We provide information to the government as required by law.
Disclosure
of Information about Former Members
Once you terminate your membership with Milford Federal Credit
Union, we will not share information we have collected about you,
except as required by law.
