The Milford
Federal Credit Union has been serving the Milford
community since 1956. Its over 2,000 account holders enjoy top
quality programs and services in a risk free environment. This
growing list of services now include Mortgages, Share Market
Accounts and Home Equity Line of Credit loans.
The Milford
Federal Credit Union is open to the entire Milford
Community.
Persons who live, work,
worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal
entities located in the Town of Milford, Connecticut; and also
included are spouses of persons who died while within the
membership of the credit union, employees of the credit union,
volunteers in the community, members of their immediate family or
household and organization of such persons.
A credit union is a not-for-profit
financial cooperative, which is owned and operated by its account
holders.
Credit unions offer the same types of financial
service as banks, but at low or no cost to the account
holder.
Unlike commercial banks, an all volunteer Board of
Directors govern credit unions. This enables the credit union to
use its financial resources to bring better rates and services to
the account holder, rather than paying stockholder dividends and
corporate salaries.
Board members are elected each year, and all account
holders are eligible, but certainly not obligated to
serve.
In summary, credit unions are a low-cost alternative
to the big banks in providing valuable services to account
holders at low or no cost, with generally higher savings rates
and competitive lending rates.
The Milford Federal Credit Union was established
over fifty years ago and is an independent, not for profit
cooperative owned and operated by its account holders. Current
assets exceed $9 million.
Milford Federal Credit Union provides its account
holders with discount tickets to amusement centers around the
area, and discounts to some merchants.
